A perennial in the primrose family and is fairly easy to identify.
The plant normally has one or more stiff green stems rising from a rosette of basal leaves with reddish midribs.
Clusters of 4 - 100 flowers dangle from the top of the leafless stem. Each flower has 5 white pink-lavendar petals that typically bend back. The Shooting Star will grow well in light shade to full sun.
It's found in open woods and prairies under natural conditions. It can easily be propagated by seed or root divisions. Normal flowering time is mid to late springtime and it grows well in zones
