Adobe Photoshop Brightness and Contrast

Photoshop allows you to adjust the brightness and contrast of your image.
If an image is too light or too dark, you can use the brightness and contrast controls to improve the picture.
Below are examples of an image before and after the brightness and contrast were adjusted:



This image has been adjusted a little too dark.



This image has been lightened and contrast has been increased


This image is the end results. Brightness and contrast is balanced

How do I adjust the brightness and contrast of my image?

It is a simple task to adjust the brightness and contrast in a photograph:

1) Pull down the Layer menu.

2) Point to New Adjustment Layer
(The New Adjustment Layer will create a layer for your enhancements so the original image remains intact.)

3) Click on Brightness/Contrast.

The Brightness/Contrast dialog box will appear:

4) Check the Preview check box. This will show you your adjustments before you finalize them.

5) Adjust the Brightness and Contrast levels using either the slider bars or by changing the numerical values.
