Creating the Digital Velvia action in Adobe Photoshop 7.0


Steps below will guide you in the creation of an action
that gives your images that Velvia Look.
By using the below steps, it will greatly speed up the
process of giving your images that added boost in color.
Do not run this action on your original images. Make a
copy of the original and then precede with the action.


Creating the Digital Velvia Action

1. Click "Create New Set" in the Action Panel.

2. Give your Action a Name: (Digital Velvia) or your choose.

3.Click "create new action"

4.  Name this according to your own preferences.

5. Open the image

6. Verify the image is rotated properly and is the correct image size.

7. Start Recording your Action

8. On tool bar go to "Image"> scroll down to "Duplicate Image"
   Click on Duplicate image. You now have two images on the screen.

9.On tool bar
go to "Image"> scroll down to Channel Mixer>
    Click on "Channel Mixer">
    Select   Red channel
    Choose R:120 G:-10 B:-10
    Select   Green channel
    Choose R:-10 G:120 B:-10
    Select   Blue channel
    Choose R:-10 G:-10 B:120
    Click ok
    Stop Action.  At this point you are able to stop or if you would like to add
    a little more color boost add the following to the action>
    Change blend mode to colour.

    For a stronger boost add 20
    R:140 G:-20 B:-20
    same routine as above for other channels.
    For a very strong boost
    R:160 G:-30 B:-30
    and the same again for the other channels.
   
Stop Action!!!

   That completes the creation of the Digital Velvia Action.
   This action might not completely emulate Fuji Velvia, but it does come close.


              

Normal Image above - No color correction
The above image is fine, but as you can see
from the below image, creating the illusion of dynamic
 colors and light really make the image jump off the page.
