The 7,823 acre DeSoto National Wildlife Refuge along the Missouri River,
30 miles north of Omaha, provides wildlife
observation, hiking, fishing, boating, picnicking and Wildlife Photography. The refuge hosts tens of thousands of migratory waterfowl including snow geese and Canadas, which in turn attract thousands of visitors, including many majestic bald eagles. In November huge flocks of snow geese stop to rest and feed during their southward migration. Peak numbers of 400,000 or more geese have been observed from the refuge's visitor center. |
